Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is dedicated to keeping the lines of communication open even through the challenges of COVID19


The Rohtang Pass on Manali Leh route has been opened for the public today. This has facilitated the movement of locals of Lahaul Valley of Himachal to go back to their area to start their cultivation.


Essential supplies and relief materials needed in India’s fight against COVID 19 will now be able to reach in this area, which remains cut off for traffic for 5-6 months. Team Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has made us proud with their excellent work and professionalism.

Snow clearance operation for the opening of the Rohtang pass is carried out every year as the pass remains snowbound for almost 6 months that is from November to May. It was kept open till December. The complete valley remains dependent on-air maintenance for any external logistics/supplies during winters.


It is the arterial road connecting Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh from the rest of the country.
