Chardham Yatra 2020 opened, no pilgrim to be allowed

Everything is lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic. And now it is good news for all that Gangotri-Yamunotri Dham door opened today.

The impact of coronavirus will also be seen on the Chardham Yatra 2020. Due to this, the date of opening of the doorways of Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham has been changed. The portals of Badrinath will now be opened on May 15, 2020. While the likely date for the opening of the Kedarnath shrine on 29 April 2020. However, the Gangotri and Yamunotri will open on the scheduled date i.e. 26 April 2020.

However, devotees are not being allowed to visit the temples for now considering the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown in force to contain it.

To ensure necessary safety measures in view of coronavirus, the Uttarkashi chief medical officer Dr. DP Joshi oversaw medical checks after which the ceremony went ahead observing social distancing and other precautionary measures.

The palanquin (doli) of goddess Ganga stayed the night at the Bhairav Temple in Bhairav Ghati on Saturday after which today it reached Gangotri where the entrance of the shrine had open at 12:35 PM.

Char Dham Development Council chairman Shiv Prasad Mamgain said that the ritual worship in Gangotri and Yamunotri will be conducted by the priests as done traditionally.
