We travel not to escape life but for life not to escape us

The beginning of the journey to reach our destination the trek to Indrahar Pass is done thru McLeodganj (Kangra Valley) situated in Himachal Pradesh. The hill station McLeodGanj is approximately 475 Km away from Delhi by road. So we took our halt at Dharamshala which is somewhere around 6 KMS or say 30 minutes far from there. It took us one whole night to travel from Delhi to McLeodganj by our own convince.

This trek to Indrahar Pass offers you an enchanting close view to Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges with an ecstatic walking experience from dense` Deodar and Rhododendron forests. The hike goes along the mountains with specular views anyone can spot glittering Moon peak and such a deserving adoration Mani Mahesh Kailash (Lord Shiva) peak. If you are good in directions then keep an eye on the north for snow-filled Pir Panjal ranges while south to fibulas Indian plains horizon till far.

The trek comprises with ultra-adventurous trekking (step, snow, rock climbing’s), one can easily spot Hindu temples and villages.

Trek to Indrahar Pass

Day 1: The trek starts with fitted boots (trekking), our shoulders carrying 20 KGS of other assignments (clothes, water bottles, food and other necessary stuff) and all of us wearing raincoats since it was raining. The rain delayed the trek, but we decided to reach TRIUND (2994 Meters/9818 Feet) 10 Kilometers) before bad light. The trek from McLeodganj to Triund is 10 KMS trek which includes some step road in starting ahead with rocky path and then a moderate trek. In the way, to Triund you will find tuck-shops where one can enjoy Maggie, omelets, tea and other packed stuff. After 4-5 hours trek, we finally reached to Triund which seem an inclined plateau at the end. If you are good, nature provides you a chance to observe cloud formation.

At night we slept in our tents under the starry sky and that was a wonderful feeling.

Day 2: Next day we had our breakfast at 900 hrs, after that we proceed towards our next stop “ILAKA (LAKA)” passes through “Snowline”. Snowline is a different palace from Triund, here you will spot less tourists as compared with Triund. On the way to snow line the trek is quite adorable and more difficult; here you will find different undisturbed spaces of trees and grass. Just we reached to the snow line Hailing and Rain starts which add icing on the cake. The view can’t have expressed in words i.e., the lush green bed of grass is full snow looks like diamonds are placed in our path to welcome us.

At 14:00 hrs we finally reached on the destination point Ilaka (LAKA), here we gathered sticks from woods for night bonfire, had a lot of fun in the freezing breezy air.

We all are amazed to see the start’s consolations, the twinkling of stars made all of us dumbstruck and star-centric. Ilaka is an out-of-the-way place! a very few tourists were spotted here from a pretty far distance.

Day 3: The real trek starts from here, we woke up at 4 in the morning, and headed towards Indrahar pass (4300 meters), path is very step. We have to make our own path stones are standing quite, the trekkers have to cross narrow ridges and snow-covered lane. After a hard trek of 9 KMS, we reached our destination at 1200 hrs sharp, from the top of Indhrahar pass its like we are living in a dream, we can see Mani Mahesh Kailash (LORD SHIVA) peak which is perpetually covered with snow on the right side the Chamba valley starts.
